Why do you charge a research fee
for my stock image request?
We understand that research fees might keep you from
calling us. However, the quality of Bob’s images sets him apart from other
photographers and we think you will find that our fees are worth it.
Bob is one of the country’s top editorial shooters,
and his work exceeds usual expectations. Our clients pay our research fees
because the fees are reasonable, and they believe it is worth the small
cost of a research fee from a photographer at Bob’s level. Because they
often choose images from our submissions, it has proven worth their while
to get first pick of our photos and to get exactly what they need.
Another reason is that, unlike many other individual
photographers, Bob has an in-house library of more than 400,000 images. We
offer a variety of subjects and situations, and a higher volume of imagery
for you to select from that others rarely can.
However, because we’re not an agency, our operating
costs are not financed by hundreds of shooters. We avoid losing money in sales
and labor by partially recovering costs up front for services we will
provide you: individualized research; fresh, well-lit, colorful images that
meet your specs better than other images will; and a greater variety and
volume than others can provide.
Our fees are fair (they average $35) and are priced
according to the effort and time to prepare your submission—even a minor
request can take two hours of staff time searching the analog and digital
libraries for photos that best meet your needs. We make sure the fee is
worth what we send you. Depending on the number of specs and the amount of
time we spend looking for them, the fee starts at $30 and goes up to $100.

Can I drop by the studio for a
portrait?
It’s best to make an appointment, but Bob can usually
accommodate you within a day or two of your call.
If you’re really busy or have a group of employees who
need portraits taken, Bob can come to your office for the photo session.
Depending on your needs, Bob can take your portrait on
film or digitally.
